Come get your West African drum and dance on this Saturday at Green Street! Lead by instructors Jocelyn Pleasant and Lovette Caesar-Johnson and accompanied with live music, the class will simultaneously remind you a) how frickin’ awesome African dance is, b) that, damn, you really do need to work out more, and c) It doesn’t matter: African dance is probably the funnest way to start. Ever.
Explore the rhythms and music of West Africa through drumming and dance. Guinean rhythms along with the corresponding dances will be taught. All participants, whether you choose to drum or dance, will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between musicians and dancers in this rich and exciting experience.
