Guest Speaker: Khadija Gurnah, Program manager at the CHC, oversees the CHIPRA grant, will speak about her role within the CHC and her involvement in the CHIPRA (Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act) Program . There are 43,000 uninsured children in Connecticut and Community Health Center, Inc. is working to reduce that number to 0. The Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC) is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Middletown, CT, that provides medical, dental and behavioral health services to uninsured and underinsured residents of Connecticut. The Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA), signed by President Obama on February 4, 2009, granted CHC funding to reach out to uninsured children and to eliminate barriers that have prevented them from being insured thus far. Through the use of technology and innovation CHC has a goal of insuring at least 16,000 children in two years.
