Save Food, End Waste on Campus

Submitted by Sydney Hausman-Cohen ’13:

We wanted to let you know about a really awesome opportunity to make our campus more environmentally friendly and help stop hunger in Middletown at the same time!

Wesleyan’s Food Salvage group collects leftover food from Usdan, Summerfields and Pi Cafe and takes it to Eddy Shelter, a homeless shelter about 5 minutes from campus, in an effort to lessen waste and help the community. Volunteers help once a week to pick up and transport the extra food (car not necessary). It takes less than an hour and is extremely important to the shelter (and we hate to see so much food thrown away).

We’re having an info session Wednesday, January 26 at 8:00 pm in PAC 100! We would love to see you there or if you can’t come but want to help out email shausmancohe(at)wesleyan(dot)edu.

  • Date: Wednesday, January 26
  • Time: 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Place: PAC 100
  • Cost: Free!
