1972. Israel. Dir: Amos Sefer. Unintentional Comedy. 95 min.

Like films but hate going to the Goldsmith Family Cinema? A fan of Plan 9 From Outer Space and MST3K? In Fisk 302 tonight at 8:00 P.M., there is a special film screening of An American Hippie in Israel, presented by visiting professor Haim Tabakman.
The Jerusalem Post summarizes the movie, “The movie centers around New York native Mike, the hippie (played by Asher Tzarfati), who, fresh from the killing fields of Vietnam, lands in Israel one sunny morning clad in a white rabbit fur vest, bellbottoms and a bowler hat. He links up with some Israeli flower children and they skipacross the city, eventually making their way to Eilat to build a utopia far away from the rat race.”
The cult film has recently enjoyed monthly midnight screenings in Tel Aviv, and copies of the film in the United States are hard to come by.
Watch the film’s all-Israeli cast try to make sense of an all-English script. Come and see a screening of this ultra-rare 70’s exploitation film.
