Interested in bike riding but live far from campus? Don’t want to buy your own new or used bike you then have to worry about it on breaks and over the summer? Like riding on chic silver and purple WesBikes? Then show your interest and send us your information for consideration!
The second rental period begins the Friday (3/25) after we return from Spring break and lasts until the Friday (5/6) before reading week. We’ll likely be expanding the program from 25 bikes to 35 or 40 before returning from break and will be in touch with those selected as soon as possible. The earlier you sign up the better!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send them to us at lle@wesleyan.edu or cxchen@wesleyan.edu. See you in when the weather’s ready for biking!
you can buy a bike for $50 at the co-op. just sayin.
do you have any images? are they basic hybrid bikes?

That’s the men’s model, which the women’s model is essentially the same as (only purple). Three speeds. Back pedal break. Simple and elegant. Old school.
how much is the rental fee…?
Thank for asking. Rental fee for the spring semester is $20, and payment is done via student account.
Don’t buy more bikes; charge more for the rental, pocket the cash, and let the market do its work.
Thanks for the Econ 101 advice, but this is not a for-profit enterprise. We have a different objective, which is to give students cheap access to bikes, and expansion of the bike fleet is the plan we think works best for this particular goal.
Also, Ayn Rand might not have to turn in her grave if you could spare some time to read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profit_maximization.
Interesting that you bring up the profit maximization problem. If you’ve taken 301, then it’s a simple matter to turn it around and solve for maximum quantity to set the price.
