Apply for the Prizes from the ENGL Department, COL, and Writing Programs

Writing Certificate candidates, have you heard about the new Boylan/ Sonnenblick award? First-years, are you applying for the Cole Prize? Apply today for this year’s writing prizes and fellowships from the English DepartmentCollege Of Letters, and Writing Programs.

COLE PRIZE: Established through the gift of George Henry Walker ’81 in the memory of Charles Edward Cole. For first-year students who show the greatest ability in fiction, creative nonfiction, or journalism.

BOYLAN/ SONNENBLICK AWARD: Awarded for an outstanding piece of nonfiction: you are welcome to submit creative nonfiction, journalistic work or writing aimed at general readers.  Do not submit academic papers.  Students in any major may submit material; preference given to students working toward the Writing Certificate. The winner will have a chance to talk with novelist Jennifer Boylan to discuss careers in writing and publishing.

Submissions for these prizes are due tomorrow, March 3, at the Writing Programs office, Downey House room 112. For a full list of the awards, click here.
