An email sent out by Fran Koerting of Residential Life at 5:14 PM tonight (one of the few emails that the administration has sent back regarding the restoration of power) has revealed that power has been restored to most of campus. The email indicates that the “outages have been reduced” to only a few unlucky residences:
- 142, 146, 168, 170, 182, and 192 Cross Street [EDIT, 2:16 AM, 11/4/11: According to the comments section, 146 Cross now has power!]
- Knowles Avenue
- 151 Church (International House)
- 202 Wash (Full/Writing House)
- 230 Wash (Lighthouse/Interfaith House)
- 240 Wash (La Casa)
Dear Residents,
We would like to provide you an update on Wesleyan’s power restoration efforts. Much progress has been made in the days following the storm and the outages have been reduced to the following streets:
142, 146, 168, 170, 182, and 192 Cross Street
Knowles Avenue
151 Church (International House)Partial power to 202 (Full/Writing House), 230 (Light & interfaith House) , 240 Washington Street (LaCasa)
Alternative housing is still available to these students.
If you are at an address that is supposed to have power and it is either partially or not completely restored, please contact Physical Plant at x3400.
We once again thank everyone for their patience during these difficult circumstances and Facilities is working very hard with Connecticut Light and Power to restore these remaining addresses.
Sincerely,
Fran Koerting
Director of Residential Life
Wesleyan University
we have power!
The program houses on wash are not expected to get power back until next week, if not later. The power lines are so damaged that they have to be dug up. Excavations won’t begin until Monday. What’s Res Life’s suggestion? Sleep in the Hewitt Lounge and shower in Freeman for some undisclosed amount of time until power is restored, even though they fully admit there are empty rooms in dorms/houses throughout campus. Thanks, Wesleyan.
How do you know this? I live on Wash and I can’t imagine living like this for another week.
I live in Interfaith House. All of the residents had a meeting with Res Life last night.
