Alex Ketchum ’12 writes in about a new group (not the a Capella group) that hopes to serve as a space for family, friends, and significant others of military personnel:
Do you have friends, family, and/or significant others in the military and feel like you need a space to discuss your personal experiences? Are you looking for a supportive space to share your feelings and not feel isolated?
This group is not just for people connected to the U.S. military, but for friends, family, and lovers of military personnel around the world. While experiences from place to place may be different, many of the feelings of isolation, loss, and distance can create a commonality. Furthermore, this is not a political group. While it is very important to have spaces to discuss the politics, morals, and economics of the military, this is not that space. We are a support group, seeking to work together and help one another.
We know that it is the end of the semester, but we hope to start meeting at the beginning of next semester and are currently trying to find out whether or not there is interest from other students.
