Meeting of the MINDS

Lauren Seo ’13 of the MINDS Foundation writes:
The MINDS Foundation is having its first meeting of the semester, and wants you to come learn how you can help make a difference for those afflicted with mental illness in developing countries. This meeting is for you if you are:
  • Interested in mental health, particularly in developing countries
  • Believe that no one should be cast aside because of their mental illness
  • Thinking of volunteering in Gujarat, India as a MINDS volunteer over the summer
  • Interested in developing professional skills such as grant writing, public relations, and program management
The MINDS Foundation has a persistent commitment to taking a grassroots approach to eliminating stigma and providing educational, financial, medical, and moral support for patients suffering from mental illness in developing countries. In the rural villages of Gujarat, India, there is less than one psychiatrist per 400,000 people. Cultural stigma further prevents people from being treated. We at the Foundation want to do something about this. There are plenty of leadership opportunities to apply for this semester, so if you are interested, come get involved!
