Johnny Temple ’88Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Akashic Books, publisher of Go The F**K To Sleep, and bass guitarist for Girls Against Boys, will speak about publishing as a business, jobs in publishing, and new forms of publishing that will involve Wesleyan students.

“Akashic is the brainchild of the charismatic Johnny Temple, the bassist of the rock group Girls Against Boys. Temple set up Akashic to give attention to literary works that are ignored, as well as to prove that publishers don’t have to exploit their writers.”
JOHNNY TEMPLE is the publisher and editor-in-chief of Akashic Books, an award-winning Brooklyn-based independent company dedicated to publishing urban literary fiction and political nonfiction. Temple won the American Association of Publishers’ 2005 Miriam Bass Award for Creativity in Independent Publishing. He plays bass guitar in the band Girls Against Boys, which has toured extensively and released numerous albums.
