This morning, Our Dear Leader Zach blogged his staggering 1,200th Wesleying post. With the blog at a little over 11,000 total posts, this means that he has alone contributed over a tenth of Wesleying’s total material. What follows is a (tragically brief) history of his illustrious Wesleying career, a minor tribute to the immensity of his infinite glory.
The Great Zach Schonfeld ’13 first joined Wesleying at the outset of the 2009-2010 academic year, when Wesleying was still under the leadership of the eternally-beloved Sheek. Zach’s very first post was almost three years ago to the day: the historic occasion of 16 September, 2009. Sam Han ’06 and Daniel Chaffee ’05 wanted to let the world (by which I mean Wesleying) know about some book they edited. Anyway.
Over the course of the year, Zach chronicled such events as the Foss Hill Pillow Fight, an ACB crash, the Worst Email Gaffe Ever, Marco’s Deli owner’s name, Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner ’87’s response to the proposed demolition of MoCon, and began his now-characteristic tradition of pouring [Edit by michelle: 10/8/18, 12:27 AM] through old Argus articles and finding some real gems. He still says it’s his favorite way to procrastinate.
Sadly, Zach wrote only 142 posts that year. But that was about to change.
With the departure of Sheek and the Class of 2010, Our Dear Leader Zach stepped up to the plate as the new Managing Editor of Wesleying. And now he really kicked into high gear. While continuing to put up Events like a mofo, informing everyone about literally anything music related on and off-campus, and digging up the Argives, Zach played a vital role in shaping campus discourse during the myriad controversies that have swathed campus in episodic conflagration during his strong and benevolent reign. Zach has also taken the time to conduct an extensive Wesleying Retrospective, interviews with the founders, and brought Wesleying to two new highs in readership in February 2011 and again April 2012, when Wesleying got over 260,000 views.
Some others had these things to say:
Killofrights: “Congratulations Zach on 1200 posts, 600 of which are probably about me or Adrien.” (Referring, of course, to Will Feinstein ’13 and Adrien DeFontaine ’13.)
Samira: “Zach is my role model! I get inspired to blog harder (blargder) every time I see him at shows taking pictures and simultaneously getting shoved by the crowd. He is the most media person I know. Now that he’s passed his 1200 mark, maybe he can find some new hobbies like knitting, collecting bottle caps, making more questionable facial hair decisions, etc. My roommate Stellar says, ‘CONGRATULATIONSSS! Visit us and drink more tea.’ ”
Syed: “Of the many Zachs on campus, Zach is one hell of a Zach.”
Tuna: “Zach is the Josiah Bartlet of campus blogs. I’m proud to be his Donna.”
And BZOD waxed poetic:
“Zach: You are a champ.
Your blogging skill is unmatched.
I would steal your brain.”And this, also from BZOD: “That post. I love that blog. Also, Zach made that post. A Wesleyan person showed the post/blog to a (female) friend at Northwestern. That friend met Lawrence. They began dating. They ran into Zach and the Wesleyan person who initially shared the blog on a train in Brooklyn. tldr, Zach posts, love is born.”
TL;DR: Zach is awesome and has done amazing things for Wesleying. We, the rest of the Wesleying staff, salute you for making us look bad.
Congratulations.

/you’ve given me many happy hours of Wesleyinging
Zach is such a central part of my Wes experience and we barely have even met face to face. Thanks for all you do, Zach!
I can make that happen…
FUCK YEAH BITCH
For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I’ll be forever thankful, baby
You’re the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You’re the one who saw me through
Through it all
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ’cause you believed
I’m everything I am
Because you loved me, ooh, baby
You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love, I had it all
I’m grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe, I don’t know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because
I was loved by you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ’cause you believed
I’m everything I am
Because you loved me
You were always there for me, the tender wind that carried me
The light in the dark shining your love into my life
You’ve been my inspiration through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ’cause you believed
I’m everything I am
Because you loved me
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ’cause you believed
I’m everything I am
Because you loved me
I’m everything I am
Because you loved me
yeah nice one dude go zak
Fun fact: A search in the Wesleyan directory yields 30 students identified as Zach/ary. There’s also an additional Zack. I doubt any other can lay such a claim-to-fame with the simply the name, “Zach.”
