First Meeting of Middletown Urban GARDENS

Courtesy of my favorite green thumb/genius, James Carter ’14:

Come to the first official meeting of Middletown Urban GARDENS (Generating Agricultural Resources and Delivering Education on Nutrition in Schools) and take part in the greening of Middletown! M.U.G. is a student-run collective that creates and manages edible community gardens in the nooks and crannies of Middletown. We currently run a teaching garden and after-school environmental and nutrition education program at Macdonough Elementary and are in the process of building a new community garden in an abandoned lot on Ferry St., in downtown Middletown (with city permission…we swear). Working alongside local residents and non-profits, we seek to create safe, productive, beautiful green spaces that help foster community, educate local youth about healthy eating habits/environmental issues and provide much-needed fresh produce to the North End of Middletown.

Date: Wednesday, September 19th
Time: 9:00 PM
Location: Community Service House (28 Lawn Avenue, across the street from the “Butthole”–James’ words, not mine)
