Film Screening: Half the Sky

Katherine Clifford ’14 writes in to let y’all know about an amazing screening that’s happening TONIGHT in Exley. Come to a screening of the new PBS documentary: Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity Worldwide. The film is based off New York Times journalist Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn’s book and movement, Half the Sky, which is about confronting women’s oppression globally through girls’ education, economic empowerment, and health care.

The film follows Kristof and 6 celebrity advocates in 10 countries as they encounter powerful and inspiring individuals, who face challenges such as sex trafficking, forced prostitution, and gender-based violence.
