An entomologist finds himself trapped in a strange town with the eponymous woman in this gorgeous, intriguing allegory. Teshigahara’s second collaboration with author Kobo Abe (who adapted his own celebrated novel) conducts a sensitive and palpably atmospheric rumination on existential entrapment and emotional connection.
