From Em Kianka ’13:
Come out and stand in solidarity with those working to end gun violence in CT and attend the March for Change in Hartford tomorrow, 2/14 from 11-12:30. The March for Change is a grassroots effort organized by a coalition of activists supporting the enactment of safer gun legislation in CT and will support the efforts of CT Against Gun Violence. March for Change supports several potential legislative changes, including strengthening our assault weapons ban and banning large capacity ammunition magazines of more than 7 rounds, with no grandfathering. Here is the full list of the legislative efforts that March for Change supports.
America has significantly more permissive gun laws than other high-income nations. Consequently, lethal gun violence poses a much more significant public health problem. As a community, we must stand together and tell our legislators to enact gun control legislation that will help end gun violence violence in the state of Connecticut.
A bus will be leaving Usdan at 10:25, at the latest, and returning to Wesleyan before 1:10 classes start. We will be wearing green in remembrance of Newtown. Please RSVP to this link if you plan on coming.
Also, lunch will be provided!
