WeSLAM, Wesleyan’s premiere slam-poetry organization, is back from spring break with a tan, a shorter attention span, and an illegally obtained case of PBR. So y’all best prep yourselves for our second-ever Short Poem Slam:
The rounds will go like this:
- 1st round: 1 minute poem
- 2nd round: 30 second poem
- 3rd round: 15 second poem (Haikus Are Totes Kosher For Pesach)
But that’s not all. The incredibly talented and prolific Cam Awkward-Rich ’11 and Sam Sax, also known as the Gay Pride Poetry Tour, will be featuring with an earth-shatteringly hilarious, devastating, and mindblowing set of poems that are sure to knock your socks off (to say the least).
Give Bubbe a kiss. There you go.
You poor thing, you’re starved. All skin and bones. College isn’t feeding you enough. C’mon, eat a little more. Here, I got some still in the oven— you like that matzah brei? I know you do. Plenty more where that came from.
Still have room for more? Rebecca Koppel ’14 wants you to have a proper Passover, just like at Bubbe’s:
Come to the Bayit this Saturday from 11-2 to help make (or just help eat) lotsa matzah brei. If you’ve never been to a Jewish event at Wesleyan before, this is a great time to start! If you’ve been to more Jewish events at Wesleyan than you can count, this is a great time to continue! If you don’t know what matzah brei is, come and try it! Come whenever you can and stay for 5 minutes or for all 3 hours!
If the front door isn’t open, come around to the back and knock on the kitchen door.
Date: Saturday, March 30th, 2013
Place: The Bayit
Time: 11 am – 2 pm
Cost: As free as the Jews after they crossed the Red Sea!
1988. USA. Dir: Don Bluth. Animated. 69 min.
A lost baby brontosaurus joins a mismatched group of fellow dino strays; together they face down T-Rexes and other dangers while learning the value of inter-species friendship. Yet this prehistoric BAMBI offers more than cheap nostalgia – it has a delicate visual beauty and a dark poignancy all its own, which you’re finally old enough to appreciate.
Tonight. 8pm. Goldsmith Family Cinema. $5.
Alienor Leon ’14 wants you to be the very best that no-one ever was. To catch them is your real test, and to train them is your cause:
It’s time for Wesabi’s Pokémon Battle Night!
This year we will be battling on Nintendo DSs using Pokémon Black and Pokémon White 2. While the mechanics and graphics will be from the latest generation, the rental Pokémon available to you will all be from 1st gen—in short, you’ll be using all your Kanto favorites! Battles will be displayed on a projector screen for everyone to watch, and between battles, just like last year, we will play funny/weird Pokémon youtube videos. We also encourage you to bring your own Pokémon games so you can battle your own Pokémon and trade.
This is a casual event, so feel free to stop by at any time this Friday! Refreshments will be served.
Date: March 29th, 2013
Time: 6 – 10 pm
Place: PAC 107
Cost: As free as health care at the PokéCenter.
If you want to be inspired for your upcoming matches, watch this epic video for some battle tips.
