Volunteer for Waste Not!

Raise your hand if you’re tired of your summer internship… or if living with your parents impinges on your previous personal freedoms… or if you miss Foss Hill… or if you’re anxious about furnishing your fall digs without breaking the bank… or if you want to scope out the class of 2017 before everyone else (we won’t judge you). If you raised your hand for any one of those, the ever-resourceful and charming Kate Weiner ’15 has a sustainable and fun solution for you to get back to campus a little early:

Interested in helping out with sustainability on campus? Getting first dibs on cool stuff? Volunteer with Waste Not in the fall!

Volunteers will need to be back on campus August 26th so that we can get ready for the big sale August 31st to September 1st. Volunteers must be able to attend every day of work and able to commit to approximately five hours a day. Housing will be provided free of charge, however, volunteers must satisfy the requisite number of volunteer hours in order to ensure that housing remains free.

Waste Not’s an awesome event and we’d love to have as dedicated and great a crew as we had last year! If you feel this is something you’d like to contribute to, please send a brief statement on how you feel you could personally be of help to Waste Not (we do a lot of sorting, heavy lifting, community outreach, and charity-thinking-up-of!) Please note if there are any days you will be unavailable.

Send your application to wesustainability[at]gmail[dot]com. Looking forward to having the best fall Waste Not!

    I live in Middletown.
For many, many years Wesleyan students on the end of the school year,
left clothing, books , etc. for people who live in Middletown. Those ”
donations’ were left outside the dorms , etc. I was sadden to see this
year Goodwill donation boxes. From what I know Goodwill first check all
the donations, picks the best ‘ things ” and sell them somewhere else. They also scan all the books and sell the on line. Please check

Goodwill from Middletown and New haven ( donations from Yell University students) has Ivy_League_Books store on Amazon. They already sold hundreds of thousands of books.
Prices at Goodwill went Up a lot in last few years. Many people, like me, can not any longer afford to shop at goodwill.
