It’s week two of the Summer Film Series! Come out to see Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell play lounge singers on a cruise ship. Marc Bamuthi Joseph: Thursday, July 18 at the CFA Theater

If you watch the video above, and then watch the one after the jump, you’ll get a sense for Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s talent. Combining dance, slam poetry, and storytelling, his performances are super lively and exciting. He’s back at Wes, where he last performed two years ago in summer 2011. Be sure to check him out! Blurb from the CFA and another video past the jump:

Gallim Dance: Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12 at the CFA Theater

Are you on campus for the summer? If so, you should go check out Gallim Dance this Thursday and/or Friday. These guys are one of my favorite dance companies ever since I saw them a few years ago at a DanceMasters showcase at the CFA. Though they tried to return to campus to perform in February, the campus was unfortunately buried by Storm Nemo and both of their performances were cancelled. If you’re around campus though, you should check this show out! Show details, and a blurb by the CFA, past the jump.

Watching Netflix alone in your summer housing just not cutting it for you? As sad as it may seem, you are probably not alone. But do not fret, because Wesleyan’s film geeks don’t rest, not even during the summer! Emily Brown ’12 writes in with pretty much the only game in town to fill up those empty Tuesday nights (and it’s a pretty good one, too):

That’s right kids. The Summer Film Series is back on July 9th with Some Like It Hot. If you’ve never seen this film, make sure you get your body to the Center for Film Studies. This film will be introduced by Ed Herrmann (also known as Richard Gilmore to those of us who grew up wishing we lived in Stars Hollow) and will start at 7:30.

Date: Tuesday, July 9th, 2013
Time: 7:30 PM
Place: Center for Film Studies
Cost: Free! Huzzah!
