From Cat Walsh ’16:
Hey! Want to know the dirt on dirt? Come learn about soil, plants, and much, much more in this semester’s student forum on the farm, Theory and Practice of Small Scale Organic Agriculture.
The farm forum aims to be an experiment in experiential learning alongside more common academic methods such as critical reading and discussion. No experience necessary — if you can’t tell the difference between a tomato and a tomatillo, we’d love to have you.
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 3rd at 7 PM in the UOC (which is between Eclectic and Beta). We will schedule farm work periods and hand out enrollment forms and information.
Date: Tuesday, Sept 3
Time: 7-8:16 p.m.
Place: The UOC (Between Eclectic and Beta)

I’ll probably be there, but mostly because I’m hoping the pug will be a snack option.

From Dylan Zwickel ’14:
Second Stage will be offering a series of student-taught workshops this semester! The first one will be an AUDITION WORKSHOP taught by Beanie Feldstein, Tess Jonas, and Paul McCallion.
The workshop will cover audition skills for theater (musical and non-musical) and film and will be fun and useful for actors and non-actors (particularly directors) alike! Feel free to bring a prepared monologue or cut of a song if you’d like, but it’s by no means necessary.
More workshops and information for those interested in teaching workshops will be available next month at Second Stage’s Outreach Weekend.
Date: Tues, Sept 3
Time: 4:30-6 p.m.
Place: ’92 Theater

As per a contractual obligation with the Theater Department, students are required to put on a Sarah Ruhl play at Wesleyan at least once a year. Trust us, it’s worth it. Kirby Sokolow ’14 has your chance to get involved:
Come audition for In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play), written by Sarah Ruhl! Set at the dawn of electricity, In the Next Room centers around the invention of the vibrator in the Victorian Era in an attempt to cure “hysteria” in women.
September 3rd, 8:00pm-10:00pm in Fayerweather 106
September 4th, 4:15pm-7:00pm in the CFA East Room.
The audition will be a cold reading— sides will be provided so there is no need to prepare anything!
Performance dates: October 24th-26th
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Kirby Sokolow at asokolow[at]wesleyan[dot]edu or Hanako Rodriguez at hirodriguez[at]wesleyan[dot]edu.
