The one and only Justine ‘Juniper’ Mitchell ’15 writes in with the deets:

Alameda is the Portland-based five piece outfit founded by singer/guitarist Stirling Myles and cellist Jessie Dettwiler, joined by clarinetist Jennifer Woodall, guitarist Tim Grimes and drummer Barra Brown. Compared to the baroque pop of Nick Drake and the slow-core dream pop of early Low, ALAMEDA blends orchestral arrangements with modern instrumentation. They’ve been featured on Daytrotter and various NBC shows. They recently toured Alaska and are on their way to Europe after this tour. They will also be touring beind a new 7′. Here’s their facebook page.

Ben Seretan and Alex Lewis will be touring as a duo – two electric guitars, pedals, vocals. This fall they’ll be touring behind a new 7′ entitled Light Leaks.  Ben has recently done radio sessions with WFMU in NYC/NJ and WXPN in Philadelphia.
Big Tusk, consisting of Howe Pearson ’12Sam Long ’12 and this guy David, are a three piece – drums, guitar, and keyboards+synth bass. They achieve a big sound with textured harmonies and Talking Heads-like grooves.  Check out their bandcamp.
