Swordfish Doula, Loren Benjamin, & Jay Stolar @ BuHo

From Siri Carr ’15:

Strap on those dancing shoes and groove on over to BuHo this Saturday night for an aural experience you won’t forget. At 10pm we will be graced with the WORLD PREMIERE of Swordfish Doula (composed of the illustrious Jared Geilich ’15 and Brent Packer ’15). At 10:30pm we will rest our tired bodies to sway arm in arm to the soulful crooning of Loren Benjamin, and when the clock strikes 11, we will all bow down to the brilliance that is Jay Stolar – the glorious voice of our generation (see ya later, Miley). It’s bound to be a poppin’ lineup so cancel those lame Saturday night plans now and start making the trek to BuHo (just kidding, it’s not THAT far).

Students & Goliath Screening with Filmmaker Alex Leff

Maya McDonnell ’16 invites you to a film screening:

The world faces accelerated climate catastrophe. If the fossil fuel industry has the most to gain – the youth have the most to lose.
But as the fossil fuel industry profits, students nationwide are taking on the fossil fuel industry head on. Based in Amherst, Massachusetts, Students & Goliath follows the divestment campaigns of five schools: Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts. Eight students lockdown and are arrested inside an energy company’s office to protest a devastating pipeline proposal. 40,000 gather in Washington, DC to demand action. Students & Goliath is the story of a generation waking up, becoming empowered, and taking the climate crisis into their own hands.

Come watch the film, meet the director Alex Leff, and join Wes, Divest for a discussion about the fossil fuel divestment movement!

Film Series: The World’s End

2013. UK. Dir: Edgar Wright. With Simon Pegg. 109 min.

From the hyperactive minds behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz comes the grand finale to their hilarious genre-bending trilogy. Five aging lads try to relive their glory days by completing the epic pub-crawl of their youth, but things seem “off” for some reason. Is it the booze? The inexorable drift of time? Maybe something more high-concept?

Tonight. 8pm. Goldsmith Family Cinema. $5.
