1944. USA. Dir: Fritz Lang. With Ray Milland. 86 min.
Fresh off a stint in the loony bin, a Londoner wins a cake in a carnival “guess the weight” contest. But oh, what a foreboding pastry: the chap soon finds himself thrust into the seedy underworld of Nazi espionage. Lang’s thrilling noir sustains both an unrelenting sense of paranoia and a strangely glib sense of humor.
Tonight. 8pm. Goldsmith Family Cinema. Free.
