Rita Charon, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center and Executive Director of the Program in Narrative Medicine at Columbia. She practices internal medicine at Columbia Presbyterian. She is the author of Narrative Medicine: Honoring the Stories of Illness and co-editor of Stories Matter: The Role of Narrative in Medical Ethics, and has published multiple articles on narrative training, empathy and reflective practice among medical practitioners and students.
Her presentation will center on using these methods in caring for patients.
