Volunteer and Paid Leadership Opportunities at Keigwin Middle School

bulliesSixth grade is rarely the best year in a person’s life, and most would agree that it would have gone a bit smoother with the help of older, nicer, cooler friends. Now is your opportunity to be that friend to some of the students at the Keigwin Middle School, home to nearly every sixth-grader in Middletown. Keigwin’s after-school program is looking for volunteers from Wesleyan to provide homework help, discuss their own educational experiences, and even teach enrichment mini-courses on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 2:35 to 4:45 pm. The program is also providing small stipends for two students to serve as coordinators for this semester and next year.

There will be an info meeting for volunteers and coordinators on Monday, March 24. If you’d like to be considered for a coordinator position, send a brief paragraph on your interest in the position and experience with tutoring to Rob Arpin at arpinr[at]mpsct[dot]org and Rosy Capron ’14 at scapron[at]wesleyan[dot]edu by noon on Monday.

Date: Monday, March 24
Time: 7:30 PM – 8:15 PM
Place: 41 Wyllys Room 112
