Call for Artists and Creative Minds who are Interested in Social Justice

The one and only Francesca Moree ’14 wants to join forces with you:

Shoulder to Shoulder is a Wesleyan student group devoted to raising awareness about Homelessness in Middletown and the U.S. They’re excited to be hosting a variety of events throughout the month of April, making it Wesleyan’s Homelessness Awareness Month!

Shoulder to Shoulder is looking for students who are interested in helping to design a campus art installation that will go up during the month of April as a part of Homelessness Awareness Month.

Some thoughts that have been thrown around include life-size cardboard portraits placed around campus, depicting actual Middletown residents experiencing homelessness, a photo display depicting the belongings Wesleyan students would choose to carry with them if they were homeless, and many more ideas!

The goal is to have a team working on this project so that no one individual has to shoulder the creative and constructive burden.  The installation/art piece would likely be displayed in the last two weeks of April.

Please contact Francesca Moree at fmoree[at]wesleyan[dot]edu if you’re interested in being involved with this exciting project!  No art experience required (I’m nowhere near a studio art major).  I’m just looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about helping Wes students engage with an important issue area in a novel way.

What: Contact Fran if interested!
Date: ASAP
Place: Over the emailwaves/all over campus
