On Friday, the Student of Color Coalition in collaboration with a number of departments will be putting on Close Encounters of the Feminist Kind: Representations of Contemporary Feminism(s)

This day-long mini conference is designed to engage students and faculty in innovating and intriguing conversations about feminism, race, and nationalism.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

10:00 AM – Breakfast Reception
10:30 AM – Boundaries and Borders to Feminism Student Panel w/ Idara Foster ’15, Samantha Sikder ’14, Christian Hosam ’15, Hibiki Mizuno ’15, Miranda Orbach ’15
1:00 PM – Afro-Asian Feminism(s) w/ Professors Leah Wright and Amy Tang
2:00 PM – Shade in the Ivory Tower: Women of Color in Higher Education w/ Professor Laura Grappo, Kelsey Henry ’15, Camila Recalde ’16Alexandra Ricks ’16
3:00 PM – Keynote Address by Professor Janell Hobson – Is “Sista”Hood Powerful? Performing Black Feminism and Solidarity in Public Spheres

who does work on media and culture, transnational feminism, popular
culture, and digital feminism.
