img_0590From Sonya Levine ’17:

Tired of eight days of monotonous Passover food?

Help cook a FREE, vegetarian, kosher for Pesakh brunch from 11:00 am
onward, no prior cooking experience needed. We will also be cooking
one VEGAN recipe! When we’ve finished preparing a plethora of exciting
recipes, we’ll eat!

We’ll also read some humorous stories about Passover by Sholom
Aleichem, author of the “Tevye the Dairyman” short stories that were
the inspiration for “Fiddler on the Roof”, and listen to wonderful
Passover-related music!

Sponsored by the Wesleyan Jewish Community, The Bayit, and the Yiddish
Book Center with support from the Jack & Ruthe B. Cowl Center for
Jewish Culture.

Date: Saturday, April 19 (tomorrow)

Film Series: Her

2013. USA. Dir: Spike Jonze. With Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson. 126 min.

Ever just feel like nobody gets you the way Siri does? Awkward introvert Theodore Twombly falls for his computer OS in this love story set in the not-too-distant future. Jonze may have (justifiably) won the Oscar for his screenplay, but the film also boasts some gorgeous use of color and a great score courtesy of Arcade Fire.

Tonight / 8 p.m. / Goldsmith Family Cinema / $5

Milo & Otis // AdVenTurE SoUL @ Earth House

AlmostUs_DigitalCover_Preview-2

Out of Chicago’s bustlin’ music scene come R&B/soul duo Milo & Otis.

In an era dominated by manufactured noise, M&O aka Milo & Otis have carved out a musical haven for listeners seeking an authentic respite. The Washington Post described their debut album as “mold shattering” in a review, while their fan base continues to swell past the span of their Chicago roots. Jamila Woods (“Milo”—vocals, loop pedal, poetry) and Owen Hill (“Otis” — bass guitar, imagination, production) are the two behind this earthy sound, which harks back to the heyday of R&B with a blend of what can only be labeled “Adventure Soul.” Adventure Soul is a road trip for your mind, a whizzing subway car for your heart, and sometimes even a party limo for your tuckus.

Their sound is like someone else’s heartbeat when they give you a hug.
