Straight from Stephanie Blumenstock ’16:
On Sunday, April 27th, the Wesleyan Jewish Community will be organizing a commemoration for Holocaust Remembrance Day. We are organizing an exhibit of writings, artwork, and other creative pieces; the exhibit will consist of both pre-existing works and works by students. The exhibit will be accompanied by a poetry reading on Sunday afternoon.
We need volunteers both to submit original works and to read pieces:
1) We are looking for student submissions of any form- music, writing, poetry, art, etc. Your work does not have to relate directly to this theme; feel free to submit anything that you feel might contribute to a commemoration of this kind.
2) We are also looking for volunteers to read pre-existing poems/short prose pieces on Sunday afternoon as part of our commemoration program.
3) We will be having a name reading of the names of people who died in the Holocaust. If you have any names that you’d like to be read out loud (relatives, etc.) you can submit them as well.
Email ifattal(at)wesleyan(dot)edu with submissions, or let us know that you’re interested in reading a pre-existing piece. Feel free to email with any questions or suggestions for the event as well.
When: Submissions will be received from now until Sunday, April 27th
Where: Email ifattal(at)wesleyan(dot)edu!
