Do you like singing? Do you like comedy? Then you should try doing some comedic musical improvisation! Musical improv is the absolutely fascinating, wonderful and exciting art of making up songs on the spot! It’s not as hard as it sounds, I promise.
We are looking for anybody who is interested in creating hilarious original songs never to be heard again. Everyone is welcome: actors, singers, improvisers, non-singers, comedians, adoring fans, musicians…
The first meeting will be this Wednesday, September 16 at 8:15-10 in the Jones Room (first floor of the theater department building). At this first meeting we will play some games, practice rhyming, a little improv rapping and get people introduced to creating songs of the top of your head. It is going to be so much fun!
Date: Wednesday, September 16
Time: 8:15-10 PM
Place: Jones Room
more info after the jump:
If you are a musician and you would like to be involved please email me, Tekla Monson (mmonson[at]wesleyan[dot]edu) with your instrument(s) and how comfortable you are improvising. Likewise if you cannot make the first meeting but would like to be on the email list let me know.
There are no auditions for this group. It is open to anybody who is interested in honing their musical or improvisational skills. You can come to meetings as often or infrequently as you would like. At the end of October we will be putting together our first performance group for those members who would like an opportunity to showcase their amazing new skills!
