Come join the Wesleyan Asian American Student Collective (AASC) during Homecoming/Family Weekend, as we celebrate our first annual Asian American Arts Festival, “Orient, Disorient, Reorient.”
The AA Arts Festival aims to create a safe space for the creative expression of Asian American students and the Asian American experience, while challenging the norms, stereotypes, and expectations pressed upon Asian & Asian American Artists, as well as the exoticization and exploitation of “Asian-ness” in the arts at large.
The festival will include:
- Visual Arts Gallery in Ziklha South Gallery, which will feature artwork by students and run from Friday, November 6th through Friday, November 13th
- Opening Reception and Gallery Walk in Zilkha South Gallery on Friday, November 6th from 4-5PM
- Performing Arts Showcase in Crowell Concert Hall on Friday, November 6th from 7-9PM, featuring music, dance, slam poetry, and spoken words performances by students, as well as a featured guest performance by LA-based AA rapper & spoken words artist, Jason Chu.
Come join us and reorient your mind and perspectives on Asian/Asian American Arts!
