View with a Room: The Nics Room That Reminds Me I Can’t Even Draw Stick Figures

Welp, as if I weren’t already insecure about my inability to draw even the simplest two-dimensional shapes, Justin Liew ’18 is making it worse. He’s basically created his own version of The Louvre in his Nics dorm room.

Here’s something awesome: Justin had never sketched until coming to The Tech. “I’ve never drawn anything in my life before, so I jumped at the chance to take a Drawing I class in my first semester here!” he says. “Most of the drawings in my room were from that class. The focus of the class were nudes, so that’s what I mostly have.”

And the quote wall? “I have a thing for quotes and when I come across one I really like, I write it down and put it up on the wall in front of my desk,” he explains. “It’s nice to have a wall of quotes to inspire me as I work, and they serve as reminders of my priorities when things get hectic and it’s easy to lose sight of what’s really important.”

Justin also has photos and postcards from his home in Malaysia, and he likes twinkly lights and sleeping without a bed frame because it keeps him “down-to-earth.”
