From Samuel Morreale ’19:

Second Stage is hosting its FIRST! EVER! festival of student-written plays! Brave, witty, hilarious, ambitious plays! Of all different genres and styles! And now’s YOUR chance to act in one of them!

Auditions are this Saturday 3/26 from 4-6pm. Please sign up for an audition slot using this link here. No need to prepare anything! Two-person scenes will be provided for you to read.

Performance dates are April 21-23. Plays range in length from 30 to 90 minutes, and will be given staged readings with very little tech. Rehearsal schedules will vary at each director’s discretion. This is a great opportunity if you’re excited about working closely with a writer and helping a script evolve into its best self, or if you’re just looking for a more casual and informal way to do theater in the second half of the semester, without all the stress of tech week.

Questions? Can’t make auditions but still want to participate? No problem! Email May Treuhaft-Ali ’17 at mtreuhaftali[at]wesleyan[dot]edu or Phillip Heilbron ’17 at pheilbron[at]wesleyan[dot]edu.

Film Series: Gomorra

2008. Italy. Dir: Matteo Garrone. With Gianfelice Imparato. 137 min.

When the kids are laughing about how their misadventures remind them of Scarface, you’ve got a gang problem. This tough, Scorsese-approved mob saga shatters the glossy image of organized crime and reveals the very real devils at work just under the museums and churches of Napoli. The movie’s source novel ruffled so many Mafia feathers, its author is still under police protection. Sponsored by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.
