Updated THANKSGIVING BREAK HOURS 2018

As campus clears out (and your classes get emptier and emptier due to students leaving early for break), those of you sticking around for all or part of break may be wondering what’s going to be open.

WesShop is closing at 4 PM today, and will remain closed until 4 PM Sunday, so be sure to get your last grocery run in within the next few hours! The offerings at this point will likely be sparse, but you can probably come up with some creative dishes to stay nourished as you hibernate in your dorm/house/Olin/SciLi. Read on for the rest of the Thanksgiving Break Hours for various facilities and services around campus!

But if you’re planning on studying in the libraries over break, be sure to check out their hours so you don’t end up stuck outside in the cold!

While most campus dining options will be closed beginning at various times this afternoon/evening (including Pi Cafe, which closed at 1 PM today, much to my chagrin), there are still a couple ways for you not to go hungry if you’ll be staying on campus.

[Edited 11/20, 5:45 pm: Somehow we forgot our dear points-taking establishments, Swings and R&B! The horror!] Additionally, WesWings and Red & Black Cafe both closed after lunch today.

This may not sound promising, but rest assured, you haven’t missed your last chance to acquire sustenance if you don’t make it to WesShop today!

“The Transportation Department offers a free local grocery shuttle service every Sunday from 12:30pm-3:30pm and every Wednesday from 6:30 pm – 8:30pm. The van leaves from Usdan to Aldi and Price Chopper and returns.”

That means that you still have a chance to get to a grocery store tomorrow evening before everything on campus is closed.

Additionally, Haven Hall shared in WesAdmits:

“If you’re staying over break, and would love FREE FOOD, join us in HAVEN for Thanksgiving Dinner. 11/22 @6pm. ?”

In other news, Scott Rodhe, Director of PSafe sent the following email with information about PSafe and Transportation hours:

Dear Students:

If you will be gone over the Thanksgiving break please make sure to discuss your plans with your roommates/housemates and be certain that your residence is properly secured including all windows.  Take portable valuables with you and allow adequate travel time. Travel delays should be expected. I encourage you to review the safety tips listed on the Public Safety web page and follow all guidelines provided by Residence Life.

Transportation will run the normal shuttle for groceries tomorrow.  This evening RIDE service will be offered 7P -1A.  Wednesday and Thursday there will be NO service. On Friday and Saturday the RIDE will operate from 7P-1A.  Sunday normal RIDE and   grocery service are planned.   Public Safety will be fully staffed 24/7 during the entire break.

Please enjoy your break and contact our office at 860-685-2345 if you have any concerns or need assistance.

Sincerely,

Scott W. Rohde
Director
Wesleyan Office of Public Safety

If you find yourself with some free time on your hands, you may want to head to the Freeman Athletic Center and burn off some energy (or just enjoy the machines being empty for once). While most facilities will be unavailable for most of break (Thursday-Sunday), you can get one last workout in on Wednesday between 6:45 AM and 1:45 PM when the gym closes.

Davison Health Center will be closed Wednesday-Sunday, but has provided information for emergency and on-call services.

From all of us at Wesleying, have a safe and restful break!
