ENG 420: Practicum in Digital Journalism

Come hear about student forum ENG420: DIGITAL JOURNALISM, a semester-long course where we will focus on producing online content and developing our portfolio. This writing-intensive seminar will introduce students to a variety of forms, from the interview, to the profile, to data-based storytelling. We will be skyping with numerous alumni in the industry, and your work will have the opportunity to be published online via Method Magazine. Multi-media projects will be highly encouraged.

Sophia Jennings ’16 and Ben Romero ’16 will be leading the student forum.

For any lost seniors out there:

The library is offering workshops for seniors writing a thesis or an essay. Topics include finding resources here and elsewhere, discovering specialized resources, interlibrary loans, reference services, EndNote, and more.

Sessions will be offered on Monday 9/28, Tuesday 9/29, Wednesday 9/30, and Thursday 10/1 at 11:00, 1:00, and
3:00 each day. No need to sign up ahead of time. Choose a date and time convenient for you and join a group for a 45 minute info session at Olin Library’s reference office. Attendees will be granted expanded interlibrary loan privileges.

Dates: Monday, September 28 through Thursday, October 1

now be open during the mornings during the week as well as evenings!
Early enough for your 9 ams, the new set hours start this sunday and
are as follows:

F Holes Auditions

Come one, come all, to the F Holes auditions! F Holes are Wesleyan University’s very own Student String Collective, and we are looking for talented classical violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists to join the ensemble. We play classic classical repertoire, new compositions, and fun arrangements of pop and world music.

Auditions will be held in Music Studios practice rooms in the CFA. Just follow the signs when you get there. Prepare to play some scales, a 2-3 minute excerpt of any solo piece, and some sight reading.

WesEMT Information Session

Interested in medical school? Want to gain clinical experience and
assist people in a prehospital environment? Just want your life to be
like Grey’s Anatomy? Come to the WesEMT information session on Sunday,
September 20th at 3:30 pm in Fiske 302! In this course you will learn
how to treat and transport patients on an ambulance and become EMT
certified. Classes run every Sunday during the 2015-2016 school year.
If you have any questions or are interested but cannot attend the info

Stethoscope Press, Wesleyan’s only student run publishing press, is looking for a few more editors! As an editor, you will work one on one with a writer to create a beautifully published book by the end of the year. If you love the process of writing, editing, and designing, consider joining us for a rewarding and collaborative experience. In the past, we’ve published graphic novels, poem collections, novellas, memoirs, and short stories.

To apply, please send a 5-7 page writing sample to stethoscopepress[at]gmail[dot]com and a few sentences on why you’re applying and what kind of writing excites you. The deadline is Sunday, September 20 at 4pm.
