Douglas Cannon Spotted in the Career Center

It’s Reunion & Commencement Weekend, which means campus is crawling with wealthy alumni; nervous soon-to-be-graduates; underclassmen working temp jobs as ushers or golf cart drivers or squatting in their senior friends’ houses; and, of course, Wesleyan dads.

In between all the snoozing on Usdan couches, schmoozing on Foss Hill, engaging in Senior Week shenanigans, chasing after famous alumni currently on campus (shoutout to Joss Whedon ’87, Matthew Weiner ’87, Craig Thomas ’97Carter Bays ’97, Santigold ’97), and packing up your life’s belongings with your parents (godspeed), you may have missed an important piece of Wesleyan history reemerge in the Gordon Career Center.

That’s right: after a multi-year absence, the Douglas Cannon has made an appearance once more. Read past the jump for more details

Procrastination Destination: Nardwuar The Human Serviette

Nardwuar The Human Serviette is probably not the first person you’d think of when you imagine a celebrated music journalist. However he has made a name for himself through his interviews with famous rappers and musicians that he uploads on his You Tube channel. In addition to his style and distinctive hat/glasses combo, Nardwuar is known for doing scarily in depth research on his interview subjects and offering them gifts from their past inspired by his discoveries. While it’s hilarious to see your favorite artists trying to decipher who the fuck this Nardwuar dude is, Nardwuar almost always manages to get an inside look at an artist’s influence that most journalists don’t. Please enjoy this small compilation of Nardwuar’s videos. Keep rocking in the free world and doo doodoo doo doo ____________ ________________.

Interested in kink/BDSM? Polyamory/non-mongamy? Just curious? WesKink offers a safe space to learn and explore!

Answer questions like:
Is kink always sexual?
How do I safely tie up my partner?
What does BDSM stand for?
How can I talk to my partner about what I want?
And more!

WesKink is a group for any Wesleyan student interested in kink, BDSM, non-monogamy and polyamory, or any other alternative sex/relationship practices. Our meetings provide a safe space for discussion of these topics open to people of all identities and experience levels. Together we learn about the wide variety of things under the kink umbrella, and how to explore those things safely and consensually!

Like all our meetings, this is open to the campus at large! Everyone is welcome, regardless of interest or experience level! This meeting will focus on defining kink and providing an idea of what WesKink is all about. We’ll pass around some toys, talk about kink, and get to know one another. Snacks will be provided!

Support Need-Blind On Your Way To Pi

A message from Need-Blind Dumbledore’s Army Direct Action :

Are you looking for a quick and easy way to contribute to the Need-Blind campaign? Do you have hands? Then come to the Exley lobby Friday at 2:30pm to help turn 12 yards of felt into 2,800 red squares raising awareness about Need-Blind! You can stay for five minutes or for five hours (although we’ll be long gone by then).

Red squares are a worldwide symbol of accessible education; here at Wesleyan students have been writing their own messages about Need-Blind in black sharpie (school colors dontcha know).

We’ll provide the red felt, some safety pins and a few sharpies, but we could really use more safety pins and sharpies.

See you at 2:30,

Some people who might not be here without Need-Blind.

Date: September, 21
Time: 2:30 p.m.
Place: Exley lobby
