Quasimodal Auditions!!!!

It’s a cappella szn! Check out this audition notice from Quasimodal:

Quasimodal is looking for new members — lovers of voice and of music and of collaboration, come audition with us!!!!!! We will be holding auditions on Monday Sept 3th and Tuesday Sept. 4th from 6:30-8:30 in Boger Hall room 114 — across from Usdan

Quasimodal is a group of creative, kind and most importantly, sexy Wes students who love singing together and performing all-original arrangements. We are Wesleyan’s oldest coed acapella group; we sing music from across the genres, though always with a bit of soul.

For the audition, please prepare a part of a song that you love and feel showcases your voice. At most, come with a verse and a chorus or verse and a bridge.

Collegium Musicum concert: Heinrich Isaac—Hofkomponist to Emperor Maximilian I

The CFA invites you to enjoy an exciting evening of Renaissance music:

The Wesleyan University Collegium Musicum, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music and Medieval Studies Jane Alden, performs works by Heinrich Isaac (c.1450-1517), a prolific composer born in the Flemish-speaking Low Countries who achieved international fame and later influenced Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Anton von Webern, and Igor Stravinsky.
Featuring the six-voice “Missa ‘Virgo prudentissima,’” and selections from the monumental “Choralis Constantinus,” among other works.

Seasonal Music Across Four Centuries: A Lunchtime Concert

An exciting invitation to a performance by Wesleyan Music Department ensembles:

A lunchtime concert of music at Wesleyan University.
Memorial Chapel – April 19th – 1:30 p.m.
Free and open to the public – all are welcome.

Featuring Wesleyan’s own Concert Choir, Collegium Musicum, and Daniel Esposito ’17 – all in one concert, for the first time ever – performing music with origins spanning across four centuries. Come make history with us!

The Wesleyan University Concert Choir, directed by Professor Nadya Potemkina, will present choral works by Gustav Holst (1874-1934) and Edward Elgar (1857-1934).

The Wesleyan University Collegium Musicum, directed by Professor Jane Alden, will honor the 500th anniversary of the death of the Franco-Flemish composer Heinrich Isaac (c.1450-1517) with a performance of his six-voice Missa ‘virgo prudentissima,’ alongside other sacred and secular songs.

Guitarist Daniel Esposito, a fourth-year student in Music and Molecular Biology & Biochemistry, will share solo pieces for classical guitar, including works by Luís de Milan (c.1500-c.1561) and Fernando Sor (1778-1839).

Disney a Cappella Auditions

disneySteven Fields ’19 and company have dreamed up something for the Disney fanatic in all of us:

All your magical dreams and wishes have come true: there is a brand new a cappella group at Wesleyan made for the sole purpose of singing Disney music! We are holding auditions to fill out the rest of the group, and hope you are as excited as we are.

We will also be holding callback auditions on a date TBD. If for some reason we cannot accommodate everyone who wants to audition within the two audition dates, then we will add another time slot. For your audition, please prepare a short vocal piece (preferably Disney, but not required). We will be posting a spreadsheet so that you can sign up for a specific time slot; however, drop-ins are also allowed. We hope to see you there! The auditions times are as follows:

Audition Dates: Monday, September 12 and Wednesday, September 14
Times: 8-10 PM both days
Place: Usdan B22 (room in the basement)

We sing all sorts of fun music from good ol’ folsky Crosby, Stills & Nash to Queen Bey. Be ready to match some pitches, learn part of a song with us, and sing a short song (or part of a song) that you’ve prepared!

Mazel Tones Auditions

Like to sing Hebrew, Yiddish, or culturally Jew-ish music? Come audition for the MAZEL TONES, Wesleyan’s recently-revived Jewish a cappella group!

Auditions will take place in Bayit common room on Sunday, September 13 at 1-2pm and 3-4pm. Prepare a little something to sing for us, and just show up when you can.

Students of any or no religious affiliation are welcome to audition. We’re especially looking for tenors and basses!

Nothing would make us happier than singing with you! Here are the details:
