From Lauren Burke ’16, otherwise known as Lizard The Wizard:
ESQUE :: wtf is it???
Honestly, we don’t know. But we’re doing a show and we need YOU.
Last Spring, ESQUE took the form of a queer(ed) burlESQUE about desire and difference. This April, we’re doing it all again!
As a show/group/organization ESQUE is all about creating space on this campus for marginalized voices. We’re open to work in any form–poetry, visual art displays, performance art of all kinds, singing, dancing, short film, making strange noises on stage, head-shaving, sex ed demos and more! This is an explicitly political space for work you might not see room for anywhere else.
Want in as a performer or artist or production person!?! Fill out The Big ESQUE Form (link below!!!) by February 26th. Tell us what you want to do and we’ll help you make it happen.
Questions? Email Rémy Hatfield-Gardner (rhatfieldgar[at]wesleyan[dot]edu), José Luis Sánchez (jlsanchez[at]wesleyan[dot]edu), or Sarah
Application Deadline: Friday, February 26 at 11:59 PM

Emily Lippe ’12 writes in to invite you to a Burlesque After-
PartyForum and give you a chance to talk about your feelings. We all know how many feelings you must have being a Wesleyan student. But seriously, this stuff’s important:
For anyone who saw the show, or heard of the show, or know nothing and want to know more, we are inviting you to come discuss any issues, questions, or concerns with some of the cast and directors! We love to explain why we take part in the show, and we want to encourage people to question it and bring issues to us directly!
So, come on down to Usdan 108 for lunch this Thursday at noon, and you can share your thoughts, comments, questions, concerns, feelings, etc.
Date: Thursday, May 3rd
Time: Noon, 12 p.m., Lunchtime
Place: Usdan 108
Catherine D. Reed ’12 e-mailed me this afternoon requesting that I post about Burlesque. I assumed that this show sells out without even a Wesleying mention, but I’m happy to oblige her. I know that the live-bloggers certainly enjoyed the Burlesque presence at the WSA Debate last night. But, grab ’em while they’re hot, folks. The tickets, not the dancers. Don’t wanna mess with
those bouncers respect, nor do you want to wander into the territory of assault and harassment..
Thursday 4/26 @ 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Friday 4/27 @ 10 p.m. and Midnight
Saturday 4/28 @ 10 p.m. and Midnight
Tickets will be sold in Usdan and WesWings at lunch and dinner until they’re gone, and I’ve heard a tip stating that tickets for the Friday 10 p.m. and Saturday Midnight shows are almost sold out! Rumors circling Wesleyan pique curiosity about whether or not Beyonce and Blue Ivy Carter will actually make an appearance at the show, so you do not want to miss out. Click beyond the jump for a note from Burlesque’s Directors (Emily Lippe ’12, Emily Steck ’12, & Casey Reed ’12)
Casey Reed ’12 writes in to let y’all know that Burlesque is holding their annual meeting to gauge the talent for choreographers on this year’s show. This post might also be my only opportunity to post a picture of half naked people, and still deem the post as appropriate. Read on if you think you’ve got what it takes to choreograph the hottest thing to hit Wes since its lack of central air in August.
Hello Beauties! Fall semester was fun… leaves changing, Halloween, snowpacolapyse. Winter break was happy… full of holidays and quality couch time. But the best season is now upon us… BURLESQUE SEASON!If you have been in the show before, and are interested in choreographing, please come to the meeting with your ideas about what kind of dance you want to do and what music you want to use! Please keep in mind that we don’t want top 40 songs or the like. Burlesque is a chance to try something new with new music! Get EXCITED! Tell your friends, tell your mom, tell your professors, tell random Middletown reisdents–IT’S BURLESQUE SEASON!
