The Ultimate Mac and Cheese Cup Review

The Contenders

College is the time in your life for shit food. You’re in a place where you can’t really cook for yourself, but you also don’t have anyone there to cook for you anymore. But just because you have to eat shit food doesn’t mean you don’t deserve the best shit food. And that, dear reader, is where I come in. For your sake, I have taken on the burden of trying all of Weshop’s microwavable mac and cheese cups to definitively determine which one is the best. I chose this specific combination of salt and carbs because it’s one of my favorite shit food options, and what is a more quintessential college food that microwave mac and cheese? (Yes, I know, RAMEN, but if I tried every ramen option at Weshop I would have a heart attack and die from all the sodium so I’m not doing that. Yet.) Each mac will cooked and tasted, then rated via the following criteria:

Ease of Preparation: How many steps are involved in cooking it, and how difficult is it? Could you make it while inebriated?

Mouthfeel: How is the pasta texture? Does the sauce have a good consistency?

Cheesiness: This one doesn’t need much explanation

Bang for yer Buck: Does it feel like you’re getting a full meal out of this cup? Is the Weshop price reasonable for what you get?

General Vibes: Just the feeling I’m getting from it, y’know?

In the end, only one will reign supreme. But who will it be? The answer lies under the cut.

Cheese-Making Club: Info Meeting

Via Dara Mysliwiec ’16:

WesCream wants to make your wildest cheese (making) dreams come true.

We’re a new student group that wants to spread the knowledge of how to make cheese on your own, which is totally, totally possible and not actually as hard as you think it is. We will also be making yogurt, creams, and hopefully some vegan cheeses too. Come join us at Outhouse this Sunday to learn about the basics of making cheese, and to have a conversation about what we want to do this semester as a group, because anything is possible (except Parmesan and Swiss, sorry).

If you can’t make it to the meeting but love cheese and think you’d want to help with some homemade cheese, you can email damysliwiec[at]wesleyan[dot]edu and she will hook. you. up.

(WesCream is NOT the Cheese Co-op, which is really great and whose cheese game is on-point.)

Date: Sunday, October 5
Time: 2-3 PM
Place: Outhouse

In the Name of All that is Cheese Sandwiches

food

The Whey Station, arguably the most popular food truck on campus (who wants to tally between Whey and Falafel?) needs your help. If you’ve ever stumbled down Williams St on a weekend night looking for some cheesy comfort [gourmet] food, you should consider helping them out.

Whey Station is run by Josh and Jillian Moskites, who are husband and wife and went to college together (aw). They both love cheese and have spent over a decade in the gourmet cheese industry, which led them to the food truck business. Now they’d like help renovating their truck.

The great thing about Kickstarter is that donating gets you cool prizes; and the Whey Station promises to deliver, with MORE WHEY STATION. A $20 pledge gets you a Whey Station sticker (ya!), a sandwich, a cup of soup, and a drink. A $60 pledge gets you a *catered grilled cheese party.* The highest pledge (of $5000…) gets you a private party for 150 people, when the Whey Station will show up to your house and feed everyone.

Look how much they like Wesleyan:
