Music players wanted for contradance

Emily Troll ’10 writes:

Do you play trumpet, bass, or kazoo?
Looking for something crazy to do
to celebrate classes being through?
We’re looking for you!

The final contradance of the year will feature an Open Band: everyone is invited to participate. For the music players, there will be one brief rehearsal; no practice necessary for dancers. We’ll be playing short tunes which are easy to pick up. If you’d like to take part in the Open Band, please contact etroll@wes.

Barn Dance!

Announcing, a Community Barn Dance!

Another award-winning old time string band is coming to Wesleyan this Friday. The Fox Hunt, a foursome of guys from West Virginia, are at the head of a lively young scene reviving old dance tunes from the area. They play full speed ahead (perhaps inspired by the fact that they used to be in a heavy metal band together until they traded their electric guitars for banjos), and are bound to keep everyone on their feet (did I mention they used to play heavy metal together?) Calling by Erica Weiss, some boot stomping southern-style dances. NO EXPERIENCE necessary. Just bring yourselves, and your dancing feet!
Free and open to the public.

Check out their myspace: myspace.com/lefoxhunt (they tour mostly playing original country songs but will be sticking to fiddle tunes for the dance).

Date: Friday, November 14
Time:
8-11 pm

Place: Beckham Hall
