The Career Center’s seeking a new director. In a three-part series, we’re reporting from the front lines.
Steve Koppi, the first of three applicants for the position of Wesleyan’s Career Center Director, spoke to a small group of inquisitive Wes students and faculty last night in 41 Wyllys. Koppi is the former director of both Mount Holyoke College and Gallaudet University’s Career Centers. If hired, he would replace Michael Sciola, who left Wesleyan in 2012 to become associate vice president for advancement and director of career services at Colgate University.
Koppi spoke eagerly on the benefits of the liberal arts education we’re all so happily receiving. Koppi argued that our generation’s employers are placing more and more emphasis on essential skills that the liberal arts education offers—including writing, reasoning and social/interpersonal skills. It is these skills that Koppi hopes to draw on if he were to be given the opportunity to get us some jobs (and oh, how we need them).

Bring: Yourself and everyone you know.
This event submission, from an anonymous member of the 2013 Class Council, clearly states that there will be 2,013 cookies, cocoa, and coffee, but I am frankly unsure if there will be 2013 of each item, or simply 2013 in total between the three items, or simply 2013 cookies, which would be quite alright with me. Either way, it is a wealth of free food, and my how the holiday music relieves finals-related stress.
Need a study break?
FREE COOKIES, COCOA AND COFFEE! 2013ers, come to frost cookies, have a warm drink, and listen to holiday music. Come quick before cookies run out! Put on by the 2013 Class Council!

Don’t you wish that you could snack on some delicious cookies and at the same time, help the Pakistani Flood Relief Initiative? Well, this Wednesday, you can!
Wednesday from 7-8:30pm on the first floor of Usdan, program houses and halls of Wesleyan will compete for cookie glory. Here’s how it works: you pay $2 for a ballot, sample the cookies, and vote on your favorites. The money goes to the Pakistani Flood Relief Initiative, the eternal fame and glory to the winners of the contest. And the cookies (and enfranchisement) go to you!
Don’t miss your chance to help out the Pakistani Flood Relief Initiative, and settle one of the most important issues of our day. (No, really. Full House and Science Hall have a serious cookie rivalry going.)
Date: Wednesday, October 27
Time: 7 – 8:30 PM
Place: First floor of Usdan
