Mental Health Support Group

support-group-meetingThe WESupport student group is once again teaming up with Counseling and Psychological Services to bring you the Mental Health Support Groups. This year, WESupport will offer two weekly meetings in order to fulfill the varying needs of the student body. If you’ve been struggling with depression, anxiety, the pace of college life, loneliness, stress, or anything else of that nature, you should join us! All are welcome! The groups will be facilitated by trained students who are also participants. We maintain a policy of confidentiality among group members in order to ensure as safe and respectful an environment as possible.

* On Mondays 4:30-5:45pm the group will remain open for students to come and go each week as they please.
* On Wednesdays 4:30-5:45pm we will meet as a closed group that maintains a set number of members, which will be solidified within the first couple weeks of meeting.

The first meeting of the open group is Monday, September 15th, from 4:30-5:45pm.

The first meeting of the closed group is Wednesday, September 17th, from 4:30-5:45pm.

Both groups will meet in the solarium on the 2nd floor of the Davison Health Center. Anyone and everyone is welcome at both first meetings!

If you have any questions or concerns, email us at WESupport[at]wesleyan[dot]edu.

Hope to see you there!

Support Services

This message went out a few days ago, but merits a reminder.

From CAPS Director Jennifer D’Andrea:

The Wesleyan community mourns the loss of Noah Langholz, who took his life while on leave from Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.  Staff from the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life are working with Noah’s friends and classmates to plan a campus memorial that will take place in the near future.

The staff at Counseling and Psychological Services(CAPS) and Office of Religious and Spiritual Life(ORSL) are available to provide support to anyone who is struggling and in need of assistance.  Please do not hesitate to reach out and make use of the following resources.

(As always in an emergency students may contact 860-685-2910)

Talk about CAPS with its Director and the WSA

Every Sunday at 7pm in Usdan 108, the WSA meets to discuss campus issues, and all students are invited to attend and participate. This Sunday (October 9th), Dr. Jennifer D’Andrea, the new Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), will be coming in at 7:30 pm to answer questions and to get feedback from students on how to improve the counseling services on campus. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the direction of CAPS and to give your input directly to Dr. D’Andrea.
