Highway Alive is Looking for Crew Members

Love Bruce Springsteen? Looking for a fun way to get involved in theater at Wes? Highway Alive! is looking for crew members!

Highway Alive: A Concept Album is an original traveling musical play by Lindsay Shapiro ’14, performed for her Senior Thesis in the Music Department. The play begins in the home of Bruce Springsteen as he rises to international super-stardom in the 1980s. The show dabbles in immersive and experimental theater and is really a lot of fun!

Tech rehearsals begin Monday, March 31st and show dates are Friday, April 4th and Saturday April 5th. If you are interested or have any questions/would like to know more about the crew position, please contact Kayla Schlenz ’16 at kschlenz(at)wesleyan(dot)edu.

Run Crew Wanted for ‘Fire + Bone’

“But I thought crew involved rowing, not running!” I thought stupidly to myself as I opened this entirely nonathletic event submission from Haley Rauch ’15:

Looking for an opportunity to get involved in theater and gain some credit while you’re at it? We are currently looking for run crew for FIRE + BONE, a senior thesis production going up this week. The commitment is April 8-13 for rehearsal and performances, if interested contact Haley Rauch ’15 (hrauch(at)wesleyan(dot)edu) to discuss schedule. We can offer a .25 theater credit for your work.

If you’d like to join the likes of these fine gentlemen, you’re in luck: Wesleyan’s rowing team is opening its doors to new recruits. Rowing is a great team sport, gives you a good workout, and is one of the few sports that you can start in college and excel at. Wesleyan has had numerous athletes begin their careers as novice freshmen, and go on to to national team glory, including one Olympic gold medalist and one world champion!

The rowing team is holding an informational meeting tonight in the Freeman Athletic Center classroom at 6:30.  All genders and classes are welcome. For any additional information, or if you are interested but cannot make the meeting, send an email to jwatson01@wesleyan.edu.

WesCrew Bake Sale in Olin

If you’re in Olin tonight, take a study break for the WesCrew Women’s bake sale in the lobby until 11pm. Rumor has it there might even be some roving sellers going around campus–if you plan on watching the Superbowl in your dorm lounge, bring some cash!
