The Rally to Restore Sanity and the March to Keep Fear Alive

Rally to Restore Sanity/March to Keep Fear Alive

An initiative you should like, from Andrew “Alex” Trexler ’14 (who’s ’14 and proud):

Greetings!

For anyone and everyone interested in attending the Stewart/Colbert rally in Washington on Saturday October 30th, I have created a group called Wesleyan Students for Sanity and Fear. The sole purpose of this group is to get as many Wesleyan students there as possible. We’ll leave campus early in the morning, arriving, rallying, and getting back to campus in time to party. There may be a small fee for the ride ($5-10), it’s still up in the air. If you or anyone you know is interested in going, please email me at atrexler(at)wesleyan(dot)edu as soon as possible so I can sign you up.

Take it down a notch, for America.

Or, if you prefer, raise it up a stotch.

  • Date: Saturday, Oct. 30
  • Time: 5:30 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Place: Washington, DC

Daily Show: What is this, Wesleyan?

In last night’s Daily Show with John Stewart, after talking about how the United States infected Guatemalans with syphilis (USA! USA!), Jon and Senior Military Analyst Jason Jones talked about the army is reacting to fuel explosions.

Energy independence and environmental innovation.  Hardcore committed leftists.  Sound like Spicoli.  Allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military.

Jones thought the same thing you did:

“I mean come on, is this the United States army or Wesleyan?!  The next thing you know they’ll have socialized medicine.”

Watch the clip “Green the Army Now” at around 5:45 to hear the shout-out.  It’s just as great as being singled out by Andrew Breitbart at the Tea Party convention last year.

Daily Show Takes Another Cheap Shot at Wesleyan

On tonight’s Daily Show, correspondent Jason Jones reported on yesterday’s three hour closure of Starbucks for the purposes of re-training (and publicity). When he decides to get some coffee at a nearby convenience store, he asks “What barista school did this guy go to, Wesleyan?”

Relevant portion starts at about 1:12

Previously, Aasif Mandvi took a swipe at Wes. (The video at that link is no longer available. It can be viewed here, with the relevant portion starting around the 2:30 mark.)
