Coming at you swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon, this Disney adventure flick tells the legend of the female warrior who disguises herself as a man and joins the Chinese army. With flowing animation, memorable musical numbers, and Murphy’s dragon antics, it’s a film worth fighting for.
2016. USA. Dir: Ron Clements et al. With Auli’i Cravalho. Animated. 107 min.
Disney’s island-hopping adventure is a serene breath of fresh sea air, ditching much of the studio’s tired princess cliche?s in favor of a bold new vision. The Pacific Island songcraft of Opetaia Foa’i meets the showtune sparkle of that Miranda guy, scoring Moana’s quest across an unparalleled animated oceanscape.
Steven Fields ’19 and company have dreamed up something for the Disney fanatic in all of us:
All your magical dreams and wishes have come true: there is a brand new a cappella group at Wesleyan made for the sole purpose of singing Disney music! We are holding auditions to fill out the rest of the group, and hope you are as excited as we are.
We will also be holding callback auditions on a date TBD. If for some reason we cannot accommodate everyone who wants to audition within the two audition dates, then we will add another time slot. For your audition, please prepare a short vocal piece (preferably Disney, but not required). We will be posting a spreadsheet so that you can sign up for a specific time slot; however, drop-ins are also allowed. We hope to see you there! The auditions times are as follows:
