Dylan Marron is an IFP Gotham Award and Drama Desk-nominated writer, performer and video maker. He is the voice of Carlos on the hit podcast Welcome to Nightvale, an alum of the New York Neo Futurists, and the creator of Every Single Word (Tumblr’s “Most Viral Blog” of 2016 and Short Award Nominee). He’ll be having a moderated discussion with Evelysse Vargas c/o 2017.

Dylan is a writer, correspondent and the most recognized face of Seriously.tv, where he created the viral smashes Sitting in Bathrooms with Trans People, Shutting Down Bullsh*t, and his signature Unboxing series.

Procrastination Destination: Welcome to Night Vale

A sci-fi podcast created by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, Welcome To Night Vale takes the form of a current-events radio show. Each episode centers around one specific event that’s happening throughout each 30-minute show, and your charismatic host is Cecil Palmer, the voice of Night Vale (played by Cecil Baldwin). Sounds good, right?

Fink has said that WTNV should be “hard to describe to your friends,” and oh, how it is. Essentially, WTNV is a show about weird shit that happens in a small town in the desert that is the American southwest. It’s, you know, just like every other town — pervaded by the corporate megalomania of a company called StrexCorp, monitored by a vague and nameless government agency, and full of people who think this is completely normal.

Like, totally! The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home can definitely run for mayor against a literal five-headed dragon. Totally normal. Station management at Night Vale Radio is just a vague rumbling from behind a door. The weather is just a song. Following every subplot in WTNV is a conspiracy theorist’s dream come true. My guess is that if you’re into Twin Peaks, you’d probably be into this too.

Whatever This Is: Episode 2

Dylan Marron ’10 writes in to share the second episode of his independent TV show, Whatever this is. In case you missed the first episode, which can be found here, here’s a brief overview that Dylan gave for a previous Wesleying post:

I was recently cast in an independent television show called Whatever this is. It follows three best friends – Sam (Hunter Canning), Ari (Dylan Marron), and Lisa (Madeline Wise) — who work job-to-job in New York City. Sam and Ari work as production assistants on reality television shows and each episode sees them on the set of a different project. Whatever this is. is from the same people who made The Outs, the 2012 series that was made on a shoestring budget, developed a cult following, and drew fans like John Cameron Mitchell and Alan Cumming (who appeared in The Outs’ Hanukkah Episode).

The second episode is called Whatever this is. • Westchester, produced by Rascal Department, and it can be found on Vimeo.

Ridgefield Middle School Talent blog

Ridgefield Middle School Talent Nite, a play written and performed by Dylan Marron ’10 and Jo Firestone ’09 which you might have seen last spring at Wes, has been on the road.
