Loam, Wesleyan’s environmental arts magazine, is seeking editors, graphic designers, and artists to contribute to our fall semester publication. Check out the spring 2014 issue here to get a sense of the work we do. We love sharing creative expressions of our relationship with the earth and can’t wait to see your contributions! If you are interested in working with the loam team, please contact Kate at kweiner (at) wesleyan.edu
WeSLAM doesn’t want you to miss the supreme, most salad-y slam of the semester:
The Spring Slam. Come celebrate spring. And vegetables. And the earth. And poetry. Live music will be provided by Immanuel Lokwei ’12, Andrew Pfeiffer ’13, and Greg Shaheen ’13!
Oh, there’s a special surprise scoring-method! If you’ve never slammed before, this is the perfect chance. No intimidation: just love, good weather, the earth and hugs from the WeSLAM family.
Laura Lamb Brown-Lavoie is gonna be featuring (she’s super dope; check her out here and here). Lily Myers ’15 and Solomon Billinkoff ’14 are gonna be hosting. Kate Weiner ’15 is gonna talk about the earth. (Hopefully) You’re gonna be slamming.
Wait! There’s more! This is outside! I repeat: outside!

Rachie Weisberg ’15, Becca Wilton ’15 and Ella Ross ’15 want you to submit to this year’s Earth Zine:
A zine is an awesome mini-magazine that allows students to voice their art/opinions/feelings/other synomyms for emotions about, well, anything. In accordance with last year’s Earth Zine, we are hoping this zine will become the new annual environmental publication on campus. Basically, it is an awesome and easy way to get your art published!
The theme for this year’s zine is Earth and Justice for All (or simply put: environmental justice). This theme was decided upon because it follows the Feet to the Fire theme for this year.
Feel free to submit anything – essays, photos, articles, haikus, doodles, – that you feel at all relates to this year’s theme. Whether you have a specific submission in mind or just have a question: feel free to contact Rachie at rweisberg(at)wesleyan(dot)edu. This year’s Earth week is from April 22 – 26 and so we are hoping to get the zine out by around them!
Earth Week is April 15-22.
You are a creative, awesome, environmentally conscious Wes student.
EON wants to put these two things together to create an Earth Week zine that will include student-created earth/environmental-related articles, essays, poetry, art, recipes, and whatever else you want to submit.
We over at EON want to include student submissions of anything you create that you think is Earth Week-relevant. Whether you have a specific submission in mind or want to add something to the zine but need some help coming up with ideas, contact Marjorie Hunt ’15 at mhunt(at)wesleyan(dot)edu to get more info or send in your submission! We’re also looking for help with layout and printing, so let me know if you’re interested! Deadline for submissions will be after spring break.
