As previously mentioned, Wesleyan’s student run cafe, Espwesso, is hiring and applications are due Thursday, March 28. Attached is the job description courtesy of Jasmine Masand ’15, barista extraordinaire. Click through to read the entirety of the application.

Job: Training/Barback Position at Espwesso

Wage: $8.50/hour

Shifts: One to Two 2 hr shifts per week this semester, One to two five hour shifts per week next year

Note: Only Work-Study students are eligible at this time

We have an opening for one new trainee to begin working as barback in April and barista in the fall.  We’re looking for current freshmen and sophomores who are work study only (sorry, upperclassfolks, etc.)

As a barback, you will work one to two 9pm-11pm shifts a week. You will be working during our busy periods, at the same time as a barista, and will be responsible for working the register station, brewing drip coffee and anything else the barista needs so that they can make drinks as fast as possible. You will receive 3-5hrs of mandatory paid training from the cafe manager over the course of the spring semester.  Satisfactory completion of work as a barback will make you eligible to become a barista, which will involve a raise and the requirement of working at least one 5 hour shift a week. Baristas at Espwesso are responsible for making drinks, taking suggested per-drink donations, and cleaning and maintaining the cafe space. We are seeking students who are willing to commit sustained time and energy to this cafe, are welcome to apply. Food-service (especially café) experience is a plus but not a requirement.

Das Sexist LIVE at Espwesso Tonight

Das Sexist, the always-fun all-female acoustic musical collective, will perform its first set of the semester tonight @ 9 at Wesleyan’s only student-run cafe, Espwesso.

The crew includes: Morgan Hill ’14, Mel Hsu ’13, Jackie Soro ’14, Avery Trufelman ’13, and Yatta Zoker ’14.

“Espwesleying, if you don’t mind”: Espwesso Opens Wednesday, Hires Errday

Espwesleying, an underground collaboration ‘twixt Espwesso and Wellesleying, is the second-hottest supergroup on the internet right now (#1). Turns out we’re dropping some new fire (“fiyah”, as you may have heard pronounced by savvy urban youth) this Wednesday night! If y’all haven’t heard, here’s the lowdown from Cache Job Engineer ’13:

Hey there, Brown students! Espwesso will resume normal hours of operation (Sunday-Thursday 9pm-1am) starting this Wednesday, the 7th. Hooray! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the best spot on campus to get free coffee (yes, frosh, that’s right, fucking free coffee. tasty stuff, too) Espwesso is an entirely student-run cafe in the basement of Albritton Center (room 003), that provides free drip coffee to the late-night Wesleyan community (donations are accepted/highly recommended) and gourmet espresso drinks for a small suggested donation. The cafe focuses on exposing the Wesleyan community to high quality specialty coffee through paying special care to coffee sourcing and best practices.

Also, Espwesso is hiring! We have an opening for a new barback/barista trainee (Workstudy ONLY, sorry guys). This is a training position that prepares you to work as a barista at Espwesso the following semester.
