Farm Forum Interest Meeting

mung beanFrom Mariel Hohmann ’18 and Lil Saul ’19 comes this invitation to get down and dirty… for credit!

Farm forum is a discussion based class focusing on different methods of farming throughout the world, including here at Wesleyan. Every week, for one class we will read perspectives on farming, and for another class session we will work at Long Lane Farm, the student farm here on campus.

There will be snacks and laughter :)

Come out to Long Lane Farm this Saturday for some reading period stress release (nothing takes your mind off of impending finals like some good ol’ fashioned farming). This will be our BIGGEST, BADDEST, work day yet! We will continue to beautify our fruit tree slope, fix up the coop to help protect our lil chicken friends, mulching our herb spiral, and taking our annual holiday card picture! Cookies will be provided for some extra farming fuel. We will be meeting outside of WeShop at 10 am to head over. See y’all there!

Long Lang Hoop House Extravaganza!

llLast spring Eva “Bubbe” Steinberg ’17 made me a mixed CD composed of only farm-related songs. Now she’s asking you to come help Long Lane Farm move their hoop houses this Saturday 11/1. Just remember that rain makes corn and corn makes whiskey! There will be snacks, but probably not of the whiskey variety. Here are the actual facts:

This Saturday, join your favorite local student-farmers as we take on the hoop houses!! These massive structures keep our veggies nice and cozy, but they aren’t in the right place! Help us with this task, and feel as warm and happy and good as our wee lil greens will in their new homes! Snacks will be provided!

Now that the weather is getting nicer and the soil remediation process is coming to a close, I’ll bet there are an awful lot of you with spring fever for some casual farming. Well, you, farmer, are in luck! Some exciting things are happening this week at the farm, and we want you to be a part of them.

So, you are hereby invited to our Saturday workday (it’s great! you should come! bring all your friends, pets, mommas and poppas, visiting siblings, pre-frosh, roommates, ex lovers!) out at Long Lane Farm. Come play in the sun n dirt with us!!
