This is it. The show you never thought would happen. Three bands. That you have probably heard of but never seen. Return. To. Campus. Period. [Click pic for short version of this.]
The Japanese resurface after nearly two years of conducting subterranean experiments. The last time you saw them, they opened for Lightning Bolt during Insanity Weekend ’11. Now they’re back together for the first time. Again. Watch their super-NSFW vid here, and come ready to party/die.
Grand Cousin changes names like that girl from your high school on Facebook. Whatever you call them, they play rock and/or roll and want you to come see them. Robby “Ronald” Caplan ’14 (bass), Evan “Que Lastima” Low ’14 (drums), and Henry “Seed” Hall ’14 (vox/tar) promise it will be “the fun.”
Johnny Love and the Heartmen have (has?) never played at WestCo Café, and you won’t want to miss them (him?). “Equal parts dulcet and abrasive, his gloomy baritone will inspire everyone, be they big or fat or nothing at all. He truly is one of the last great geniuses.” #startedfromthebottom
Here are important links:
Dashing WestCovian devil child Cal Hickox ’15 writes in about an incomparable WesFest classic that’s here to stay, alternative names be damned. This time around electro-pop duo Tanlines is headlining, set to talk the stage after (and before) sets by a veritable kaleidoscope of prolific WesBands (some of whom performed last year too). The weather’s supposed to be a darling, so let’s hope no one gets on P-Safe’s bad side:
Imagine… a place and a time where the world could come together as one.
Think hard; really try to taste the pure buttercup air; really try to feel all those wind turbines humming with satisfaction; and really, really, really try to see all those effervescent smiles plastered across the faces of a new tomorrow. Nice, isn’t it? Well I’ve got some good freakin’ news… This utopia is not out of reach! This is all it is: A unity based upon trust, love, harmony, innovation, …… and WHAT?!?! …… a man?
Update in from Dylan Bostick ’13 – Battle of the Bands (THIS FRIDAY OR WHATEVER) has a lineup, y’all – chosen from quite a few EP entries by a careful and time-honored process. Also I heard facebook has an events system and this is on it, does this link work? Apparently it’s like an event or something, IDK.
Anyway, onto the contestants. Don’t be too impressed with these descriptions I’ve amassed from leading music critics:
The Appledaughters – battlers man these guys crazy theyll punch you out the face bro fuck
Grand Cousin – yo used to be grand dad but like its complicated with mom so cousin now
Lyons Den – i mean its just some lyons see
Peace Museum – sounds chill not too much fighting in the museum and stuff
Static Stamina – um i failed physics so not sure what this means but yeah
Treasure Island -haha dude loooove tresure man!!! found some sweet $$$ under my bed yesterday
Got issues with the lineup? If only there were some place where people had already left more than 50 comments about it…oh well.
Also, if someone wants to tell me what (if any?) is the difference between Social and Spring Fling Committees, that would be $w33t. Sorry I have no idea what’s going on, but isn’t that how we all go through life? …oh, so that’s just me? Okay. Fine.
