Interest Meeting: Looking for Performers for Balinese Kecak Dance

From Haikal Ramadhan ’16:

For those of you who would like to experience the culture from a land far away: Now you can immerse yourself in the beautiful culture from the island of Bali, Indonesia. Indonesian Society at Wesleyan (Indonesyan) invites you to dance Kecak at Mabuhay this April.

Kecak is a form of traditional Balinese dance and musical, often performed after sunset as a way to narrate the story of Indian epic, Ramayana, thus this performance is also known as Ramayana Monkey Chant. No experience required. No audition. Better yet, you will be sitting for most of the time!

Screening of "Lumpur" by Indonesyan

There will be a movie screening of the film Lumpur, followed by a Q&A with its producers, Phoebe and Edwina Clarke. There will also be a panel discussion about the environment, politics, and economics, with a volcanologist, environmental scientist, and Indonesian students. Hosted by Indonesyan (Wesleyan’s Indonesian Society), ResLife, and the Environmental Science Certificate Program. Desserts will be provided by Sweet Harmony.
